I had a press file due at noon on Friday and I only really started working on it on Thursday night. So I didn't get any sleep that night but I managed to finish it 3 hours before the deadline (despite being harassed and emotionally-abused online by Michael until about 5AM). I was pretty proud of myself, though really I should be ashamed for procrastinating so much!
So without even a wink of sleep, I showered and went to the university to bind the assignment before submitting it. After that, Michael took Caryn, her brother Keith, and I to the city to pick up my TV. I was deliriously happy because I've missed WATCHING TV WITHOUT NOISE and USING A REMOTE CONTROL and WATCHING WHAT I WANT. I found the ad online and the TV is a second-hand GVA model, a year old, good condition and going for $50 (about RM135?).
Then Michael dropped Caryn and Keith off to do some sightseeing and shopping because her brother is leaving tonight, before going to a university to submit some forms and then finally dropping me back at my flat.
I tried to set up the TV by myself but I couldn't get it to work. Greg tried. Kirsten tried. Will tried. It wouldn't work properly. I reckon the reception is bad and the antenna is doing a crappy job. So I'll have to return the antenna and see if they'd allow me to trade it for another model. But I am so disappointed.
I slept at around 4AM because I was too scared to go to the bathroom when the house was so eerily quiet and I was waiting for Nicolas to come home. All my flatmates sleep insanely early. At about 3AM, I gave up waiting for Nicolas. I made Raj call me to talk to me while I brushed my teeth, washed my face and peed. It's gross but who cares, it's Raj. And it's not like I haven't done worse things, like say, puking on someone's head.
Why was I so scared? Well, apart from the fact that I have an active imagination and am usually too chickenshit to be alone in the dark, Ms Caryn Fluff Puff had to tell me this story:
Her friend's sister's friend was on the train one day and she was alone in a compartment with three Aboriginal girls sitting across from her. When she looked up, the girl in the middle was staring at her. She continued to fiddle with her phone.
When she looked up, the girl in the middle was still staring at her. She quickly pretended to be sending out a text message, because she was starting to feel a bit freaked out.
Then the security came to check her tickets and said her ticket was not valid, so she'd have to get off at the next stop. She resisted because her ticket was valid but was made to get out at the next stop.
After she got off, she found out from the security that the girl sitting in the middle was actually dead all along, beaten to death by the other two girls. The incident was caught on camera. The two girls were using the train to transport the body. The security had to ask her to get out at the next stop because the police were waiting for the two girls at the stop after that.
Is that freaky shit or what? I mean, it's bad enough that two girls can beat you to death, and you're sitting directly across two murderers. But to have glassy, dead eyes staring at you, that just sends chills down my spine.
Then, this morning, I had to wake up at 8AM, meaning I clocked in a total of four hours of sleep within the past three days. I had to drag myself out of bed because of the Caversham Wildlife Park trip; I would have gladly skipped it and gone back to bed, but I am part of the organizing committee so obviously, I couldn't be so irresponsible.
We went to Swan Valley first, to visit the chocolate factory (I forget the name now). It took major self control but I didn't buy anything, apart from sharing a bottle of chocolate milk with Paeavi, Yasmin and Caryn.
Next, we went to the Margaret River vineyard, plus wine and cheese tasting. I had wine for breakfast, damn it! That's got to be a new level of alcoholism. As you all probably already know, I can no longer tolerate the smell and taste of wine because of my previous drink-myself-into-a-stupor mistakes.
Even when Liane offered me wine during dinner that night, I took one sip and felt like puking. But today, it was okay because I paced myself and drank very little, only about half a glass in total. The cheese was yummy too.
After that, we went to the Caversham Wildlife Park. It was a really hot day and I was already getting a headache but it was great to experience something different. Today, I milked a gigantic cow. Stroked kangaroos. Touched an owl. Rubbed a wombat's belly. Pet some lamb. Stroked a koala. Touched a...an....erm...something which the keeper referred to as 'very vicious', so I'm just going to call that animal a Sid (Sid Vicious, geddit geddit geddit?). Saw Tasmanian Devils. An eagle. Pet bunnies. Fed guinea pigs. Saw a horse, donkey and llama. Watched a farmer shearing sheep (which was painful to watch because I felt like the sheep was suffering).
But overall, I loved the day! Pictures coming up as soon as I get my hands on them (as usual, I didn't bring my camera-lah). I wish I got more sleep though; by the end of the trip, I was in a near-catatonic condition because my body was barely functioning anymore. I can't wait for my guests to come in June/July so that I can take them there!
I am going to resist going for karaoke and then clubbing at Metro City tonight. No, Caryn. No, Yasmin. Don't show me your puppy eyes; it won't work this time! Freo and laundry tomorrow, anyone?
